Nov 30 Commemoration: Over Half of Israeli Jews Are Indigenous to the Middle East
Three weeks in the United States gave VOI's Eve Harow the opportunity to speak and also to listen. Eve explains that Israel and America have a lot to learn from each other, with commonalities being greater than the differences.
Then, Matti Friedman recently authored a brilliant essay on Mizrahi Jewry. November 30 commemorates the expulsion of Mizrahi Jews from their longtime homes, and their exile to Israel where they have been absorbed. Friedman joins Eve in-studio to discuss why the world, including Israelis, choose to forget that half of Jewish Israelis are indigenous to the Middle East.
Plus, #BIGIDEA is an international American style summer camp based in Israel. Computers, robotics, fashion design, music and photography are only some of the activities offered for Israelis and Jewish kids aged 7-18 from all over the world. Campers get to know Israel, each other and themselves while learning skills that will push them far ahead of their peers and into a bright future. Integrating kids on the autistic spectrum is only one of the magnificent things they do. Dotan Tamir, founder and CEO, joins Eve in-studio to speak about his project and the thousands of children whose lives #BIGIDEA has changed.
