Jews in Paradise?
VOI's Jeremy Gimpel -- on a trip to the Bahamas, where he hosted a Passover gathering -- talked to "700 Islands" Chabad Rabbi Sholom D. Bluming to hear how one man is bringing spirituality to such a physically pleasing place. How do you maintain a holy life, in an almost totally secular environment, while surrounded by sun, sand and bikini-clad beauties? What can a rabbi learn from Jews who know next to nothing about Judaism?
Then, Jeremy and co-host Ari Abramowitz are joined by Josh Flaster and Ari Kalker, former lone soldiers in the IDF who now lead Israel's largest and most effective haven for lone soldiers. Who are these young people serving in the Israeli army, far away from their families back home? What are the challenges they face in both military and civilian life?
Finally Ari and Jeremy are joined in-studio by Jerusalemite Barbara Diamond to hear how she and her husband, Bernard, helped Jews -- such as the Falash Mura in Ethiopia and the "refuseniks" in the Soviet Union -- make it to Israel. She also recounts meeting with Soviet leaders and making a case to them about why it was in their best interest to recognize Israel.
