Terror, the UNHRC Report and Zionist Alternatives(50:44)
|
As Islamic terrorism strikes in Israel and around the world, VOI’s Daniel Seaman and Daniela Traub discuss the weak response of the Israeli government, and how there always seems to be an excuse to justify Palestinian violence against and incessant criticism of Israel.
Then, Daniel and Daniela talk to Col. Richard Kemp, who was in Geneva to address the UNHRC session on adopting the committee findings on last summer’s Gaza operation. He details the flaws of the report; describes the reason for Hamas’ strategy to deliberately sacrifice its own people; why its tactics are successful; and claims Israel took significant steps to prevent loss of civilian life, in excess of what is required by international law. He also states we in the West are fighting the same enemy.
Then, Daniel and Daniela are joined in-studio by Nave Dromi, head of Blue and White Human Rights. She recounts having sought a way to combine her Zionism and love of Israel with her championing of human rights. She explains how her organization can serve as an alternative to the phony existing bodies; how to engage in constructive discourse with the authorities; and how to genuinely assist the Palestinian population without bashing Israel.
Finally, Daniel and Daniela are joined in-studio by Lior Shurka, director of the Zionist Foundation for Israel, and adviser Dan Illouz. They say they have seen how the assault on Israel is met with a weak counter response by pro-Israel organizations, and talk about how the purpose of their organization is to bring all Zionist groups together to coordinate activities and increase their connection with government officials, so as to put their joint efforts to more effective use.
