On Holocaust Heroes and the Resurrection
12 April 2023VOI's Daniel Seaman and Daniela Traub address this week's Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day, marked in Israel on Thursday. They discuss whether the Holocaust is forgotten; how the existence of a flourishing Jewish state raises the ire of many around the world; and why the memory of the Holocaust invigorates the endeavor.
Then, Lester Bornstein, a US Army veteran of WWII, shares his story of heroism and joy with Daniel and Daniela. Born when the idea of a Jewish state was just a dream, he fell prey to the anti-Semitism of his army buddies while fighting the Nazis. Receiving two Bronze Stars for valor, he returned to America, where he raised a family. He has also lived to see his son, Michael Oren, immigrate to Israel; become ambassador to the US; and elected last month to the Knesset on the Kulanu party list.
Then, Daniel and Daniela talk to Fox News commentator and Middle East expert Lisa Daftari about the prospects of the Iranian nuclear deal. Will an agreement be reached? If so, what would the pros and cons of it be? They also discuss the increasing jihadist violence in Syria and Africa aimed at the creation of an Islamic Caliphate, and the West's ignoring of it.
Finally, Daniel and Daniela are joined in-studio by Nave Carmi of eBookPro, who reveals how his company shares its expertise of the Amazon system to promote Israel authors and their books in the United States. Tune in to hear how children's stories and an Israeli vegan cook book are becoming international best sellers.
