On the anniversary of Operation Protective Edge, VOI’s Dov Lipman remembers his experiences as a Knesset member during the war. These include distributing ice cream to IDF soldiers on the Gaza border, visiting the wounded, and delivering a eulogy for a lone soldier from California.
Then, Dov explains the reasons for “Shiva Asar B’Tamuz” (the 17th of the month of Tammuz) — today’s fast day. He expands on the deeper meaning of and message behind each of the tragedies that occurred on this date.
Then, Dov is joined by Gershon Schneider, a close friend of Malachi Rosenfeld’s, the young man killed by a Palestinian terrorist last week. Gershon talks about Malachi’s sterling character and leadership qualities. He also explains how the Rosenfeld family and the community in their hometown of Kochav Hashachar, have the will to become stronger through the tragedy.
Finally, Dov is joined by Guy Azuri, coach of the new national girls’ soccer team, as Israel prepares to host the under-19 Girls European Soccer Championship, that begins on July 15. Guy talks about the establishment of the team, alongside a new soccer academy, that will get the girls ready for this and other competitions.
