VOI's Raoul Wootliff gives an update on the controversial statement made by Religious Services Minister David Azoulai about Reform Jews.
Azoulai has backtracked on what he said Tuesday — that he cannot consider Reform Jews to be Jewish — but in an odd way. In a Knesset debate Wednesday, he said, “It is clear that even sinners can be Jews.” Rabbi Gilad Kariv, head of the Reform movement in Israel, told Raoul that religious equality does not exist for Reform Jews in Israel.
