Foreign Ministry 'Confusion' High in the Wake of New Cabinet Appointments

Following the appointment of Gilad Erdan as minister for public security, strategic affairs and public diplomacy, confusion in the Foreign Ministry over its role is even greater than it was before. This is especially true now, with ministers charged with US-Israel relations, negotiations with the Palestinians, Israel's response to the Iranian nuclear program and BDS -- traditionally Foreign Ministry issues. In addition, recent comments by the prime minister and Erdan in support of negotiations with the Palestinians have former foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman calling on Netanyahu to clarify Israel's foreign policy.
