VOI’s Josh Hasten is joined by Jerusalem Post military correspondent Yaakov Lapin, who says that Hamas is seeking to exploit the riots on the Temple Mount in order to build its terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. Meanwhile, he adds, Fatah terror cells are possibly being primed for further attacks on Jewish targets.
Then, Josh is joined by HonestReporting’s Yarden Frankl, to review this week’s anti-Israel media coverage: A BBC reporter cites his Jewish credentials when presenting a slanted documentary on the Jerusalem light rail, claiming it is a racist train that divides the city. In fact, says Yarden, it brings people together every day, and the BBC should report the truth.
Then, Josh is joined on the phone from northern Israel by NBA veteran and current Sacramento Kings power forward Caron Butler. Butler is in the country this week with six other NBA players, touring and hosting youth clinics, as part of an initiative by Israeli NBA star Omri Casspi. In Israel for the first time, Butler says he was deeply moved by some of Jerusalem’s religious sites, and looks forward to floating in the Dead Sea. He also says he is already thinking about his next trip back here.
Finally, Josh hears from Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Hilik Bar about the launch of a new outline to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Bar believes the plan will protect Israel’s vital security interests, keep Jerusalem united and strengthen Israel’s position in the world. Bar, who for years has advocated for the release of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, says he hopes rumors of his imminent release prove to be true.
