VOI’s Yishai Fleisher shares his thoughts on Israel with Pastor Dave McGarrah, and hears from hi-tech entrepreneur and Satmar hasid Moshe Teitelbaum.
First, Yishai airs his interview on the popular US radio program “The Teacher and the Preacher,” with Deer Flat Church Pastor Dave McGarrah. The two discuss the phenomenon of anti-Israel dogma, the lack of potential in a two-state solution and the unique character of the land and people of Israel.
Then, VOI hears from entrepreneur Moshe Teitelbaum, who grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a hub for Satmar Jews founded in the early 20th century by the late Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum. He talks about marrying Satmar’s unwavering commitment to Torah values with working and living in a modern world. Moshe himself has a successful career in technological communications. He describes the life of Satmar hasidim — working during the day, studying the Bible at night — and responds to certain controversial elements of his community’s philosophy, such as their opposition to the establishment of the state of Israel and ambivalence to induction into the IDF. listen now
