VOI’s Mottle Wolfe talks to controversial Rabbi Zev Farber about what it means for Orthodox Jewry if the Torah is not historically accurate.
First, Mottle hears from Rabbi Farber, head of Project TABS - TheTorah.com, about the controversy that erupted upon publication of “Avraham Avinu Is My Father,” a blog post in which he denies the historic accuracy of the Bible, yet still embraces his Orthodox identity. He explains his philosophy of synthesizing the modern academic approach to Bible scholarship with the love of being a religious Jew in the land of Israel. He goes on to talk about graduating with an MA in Jewish history from the Hebrew University and a PhD in Jewish religious cultures from Emory University. His edited volumes on brain death and organ donation are available through Koren publishers and Amazon. listen now
