Drug Store Cannabis and the Ultimate BDS Fail(50:39)
|
Raoul tells Josh about yesterday’s Knesset committee session, in which Deputy Health Minister MK Yaakov Litzman announced that patients licensed to obtain medical marijuana will soon be able to do so in their local pharmacies. He also talks about MK Hilik Bar’s new proposal, which would allow Israeli “settlers” to live in a future Palestinian state. He says that the most unique aspect of the plan involves Israel’s recognition of a Palestinian state prior to entering into new negotiations.
Then, Josh is joined by Israel advocate, blogger and radio personality Rolene Marks, who details the ultimate BDS fail. Marks, an immigrant to Israel from South Africa, tells the story of a group of South African student leaders who supported BDS, until they arrived in Israel for a visit — and had a complete change of viewpoint. After realizing the error of their ways, and accepting that Israel was not an Apartheid state, they returned home only to be suspended by the South African Student Congress, simply for the “sin” of visiting Israel in the first place.
