The Temple in A Modern Secular State(50:51)
|
Yishai is joined by VOI’s Mottle Wolfe to discuss the the phenomenon of the very secular Tel Aviv being a mere five kilometers away from the ultra-Orthodox Bnei Brak. The former celebrates Israel Independence Day, but doesn’t fast on the day that marks the loss of Jewish sovereignty 2,000 years ago. The latter observes the religious fast, but does not take part in the modern celebrations of statehood. Mottle and Yishai talk about the contours of this divide, and envision a way to move the process of building the third Jewish commonwealth forward.
Then, VOI’s Yishai Fleisher is joined by Jerusalem Post op-ed editor Dr. Seth Frantzman to discuss the riot on the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av, the saddest day of the Jewish calendar, which recalls the destruction of two holy Temples — on the very same Temple Mount. Frantzman also talks about the potential release of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, and why he says the Turks “are against everyone.”
