VOI’s Dov Lipman talks to an Israeli consul general, an American Jewish community relations leader, members of the JNF and new immigrants to Israel.
First he is joined by David Siegel, Consul General for Israel in the Pacific Southwest, who explains how he will fight for Israel on the heels of the nuclear deal with Iran, and describes what he does on a daily basis for Israel. He tells Dov about his seven-state initiative to rally members of Congress to support Israel, and about his efforts to bring Israeli technology to the US for issues including the drought in the South. He also talks about the impact the death of the lone soldier from Los Angeles, Max Steinberg, has had on the region.
Then, Dov is joined by Ron Halber, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, about the reaction of the Jewish community and organizations to the nuclear deal. He says an effort will be made to rally Congressman to vote against the deal, even highlighting the key senators who can swing the vote one way or the other.
Then, Dov hosts two leaders of the Jewish National Fund, Aaron Parker and Myron Stayman, who discuss their experience on a Nefesh B’Nefesh aliyah flight to Israel. They explain why JNF partnered with Nefesh B’Nefesh to support immigration to Israel, and lay out the JNF vision for impacting the future of Israel in other realms.
Then, Dov is joined by Josh Goldstein, who moved to Israel with his wife and two children this week. Goldstein describes the flight, the greeting at the airport, the hectic first week and some of the challenges. He also conveys a message to all those considering making aliyah.
Finally, Dov teaches a lesson about the weekly Torah portion, with a message about the importance of the land of Israel in Jewish life. listen now
