EU funding of illegal Palestinian construction, assisting Israeli farmers during the ‘sabbatical’ year and Christian empowerment are today’s topics.
First, Josh rants about yesterday’s Knesset hearing denouncing the European Union for funding illegal Palestinian construction in Area “C” of Judea and Samaria. The Europeans claim they are supporting a humanitarian housing cause. But Josh can’t hold back his rage at what he considers the hypocrisy of the EU for regularly condemning Jewish building in Judea and Samaria, on the grounds that it is an “obstacle to peace,” while directly aiding Palestinian construction, illegal, to boot.
Then, Josh hears from Dave Matkowsky, founder of “The Shmitah Fund,” a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Israeli farmers shoulder the financial burden of upholding the Biblical commandment to give their fields a “rest.” Matkowsky says it is crucial to partner with these farmers — who feed the nation and help maintain a connection to the land — during this challenging period.
Finally, Josh is joined by Jonathan Elkhoury, spokesman for the Christian Empowerment Council, led by Father Gabriel Naddaf. Elkhoury talks about how his organization is assisting to integrate Christians in Israel into all spheres of society by helping them become IDF soldiers. Elkhoury stresses that while Christians are persecuted throughout the Middle East, Israel is the only safe haven for them. listen now
