Yishai Fleisher, sitting in for Dan Diker, talks to Bassem Eid about the ever-changing landscape of the Middle East and to American hero Brian Mast.
First, Bassem, VOI’s Arab affairs analyst, discusses the efforts of ISIS to stop tourism from flourishing in the Sinai, a goal towards which Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi continues to work. Meanwhile, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is forced to accept a much-reduced territory as his kingdom, as millions of Syrians run for safer havens.
Then, Staff Sergeant Brian Mast, a decorated American soldier who lost both legs in Afghanistan, tells Yishai about his journey from a war zone to Harvard University, to a race for US Congress. Mast came to Israel to volunteer with the IDF, and now he finds himself in the midst of yet another battle, as he fights to stop the passage of the Iran deal.
