After the deal was announced this morning, Western leaders addressed the world, saying the agreement will make the world a safer place. Israel, on the other hand, is certain the agreement will make the world more dangerous. US President Obama believes it will prevent an arms race in the Middle East. Israeli officials believe the opposite. The panel draws the comparison to Britain’s PM Neville Chamberlain and his statements about Germany in the fall of 1938.
While it is very rare for coalition partners and the opposition to agree on anything in Israel, there does seem to be almost universal consensus that this is a bad deal and dangerous not only for Israel, but for the entire region and the world. The panel analyzes the reasons why.
Prime Minister Netanyahu gave a statement in English this afternoon, saying, “We will always defend ourselves.” The panel listens to and comments on the audio.
