Hunger Games(50:33)

VOI’s Yishai Fleisher is joined by Rabbi Aaron Leibowitz, a Jerusalem City Councilman and the dean of the Sulam Yaakov Beit Midrash, to discuss a particular aspect of the nuclear deal with Iran. Leibowitz explores the power of inter-personal dynamics in conflict, with regard to US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — two leaders of two great nations who have put Iran at the top of their agenda: Obama to empower Iran, Netanyahu to stop it.
Then, Yishai is joined by Professor Shimon Glick, former dean of the Ben Gurion University Faculty of Health Sciences and a former ombudsman for Israel’s National Health Service, to talk about the case of Palestinian detainee Khader Adnan, who was released from administrative detention after a 56-day hunger strike. Did the Israeli authorities let him off too lightly, or should they have force fed him? Glick argues that Jewish law, morality and medical ethics mandate they should.
Finally, Yishai pays tribute to Israeli broadcaster and former executive director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland Charlie Schiffman, who just passed away in Jerusalem. Along with Pastor Dave McGarrah, Charlie co-hosted the popular radio show, “The Teacher and the Preacher,” which aired in the western United States. In honor of Charlie’s passing, Yishai plays a part of the last interview he and Dave gave to Voice of Israel.
