Baruch Marzel and A.B. Yehoshua: Polar Opposites(50:31)
|
First, Yishai hears from Jeremy about Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s fight against the overreach of the Supreme Court.
Then, after Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon took measures to empty the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs in Hebron of Jews learning Torah prior to his visit, his car was jumped on by political activist Baruch Marzel. Marzel tells Yishai why he acted as he did, and why he has no plans to change his tactics.
Finally, the “Israeli Faulkner” A.B. Yehoshua took part in a Bar Ilan Conference considering the 2005 Gaza disengagement, where he stated that the Arab connection to the concept of “homeland” continues to strengthen, while Jews’ sense of the same principle weakens. He says losing such consciousness endangers the Jewish cause, before explaining why he fears a binational state and continues to support a two-state solution — even as other pragmatic Israelis begin to shift away from that idea.
