Jews and Arabs, Ultra-Orthodox, American Football and the Weekly Torah Portion(51:03)
|
Dov is joined by Evan Muney, director of the Citizens’ Accord Forum between Jews and Arabs in Israel. Evan describes his organization’s efforts to foster peace between Jews and Arabs, as well as among the country’s different Jewish populations.
Then, Dov is joined by Udi Tzemach, a founder of Avodot LaChareidim, an ultra-Orthodox-run agency that helps the ultra-Orthodox in Israel enter the workforce. Udi explains the impetus for the agency and what it actually does. He also tells of the tremendous success it has had and about the quiet revolution taking place on the ultra-Orthodox street.
Then, Dov is joined by Steve Leibowitz, founder and head of American Football in Israel. Steve describes the growth of this sport in Israel and the impact it is having. Dov also caught David Baker, president of the NFL Hall of Fame, for a quick interview during his recent visit to Israel, along with 19 hall-of-famers. David explains the meaning of their visit to Israel and the influence it had on all the players.
Finally, Dov teaches a lesson from the weekly Torah portion, “Balak,” about the significance of the land of Israel to the Jewish people. He relates this to the recent census indicating that the Jewish world population is now nearly the size it was prior to the Holocaust.
