Will Freedom Flotilla III Break the Gaza Blockade?(50:37)
|
Another flotilla is on its way to Gaza to break Israel’s maritime blockade. Should the ships be let through, or must they be prevented from entering the area? What should Israel do about the Knesset member on board? Is it reasonable, in a democracy, to accept this action from a member of parliament?
President Barack Obama announced yesterday a change in US policy regarding negotiations with terrorists. While the government will not negotiate, it will help families make contact with hostage-takers to enable ransom offers. Will this lead to more abductions? Does Israel have a right to criticize, given the ransoms it has paid in recent years?
Former Israeli Ambassador to the US and current MK Michael Oren has been criticized for his recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, “How Obama Abandoned Israel.” Who is attacking him and why? Why is his book being released now, mere days before the June 30 deadline for a deal with Iran?
As negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program continue, a group of American security and foreign policy advisers, many of whom were members or supporters of the Obama administration, have issued an open letter cautioning that a nuclear deal could “fall short of meeting the administration’s own standard of a ‘good agreement’ unless it included a tougher line on United Nations nuclear inspections and conditions for sanctions relief.” Why now? What is the significance of its having been signed by many from Obama’s own team? What impact might it have on a potential deal? Is it too late?
