Mottle’s America, Israel’s Druse, and the Sports Rabbi’s Prediction(50:46)
|
Josh is joined by VOI’s Mottle Wolfe, who just returned from a short trip to the US to officiate at a wedding. Mottle says that while it is obvious that there is a thriving Jewish community in America, he feels a lack of the sense of brotherhood and purpose characteristic of Israel. He also recounts reassuring those who asked him about whether living in certain parts of Israel is dangerous that he feels very safe here.
Then, Druse MK and Deputy Minister of Regional Cooperation Ayoub Kara gives an update on the situation with the Druse community in the North, two days after a wounded Syrian seeking treatment in Israel was killed by a Druse mob. Kara says that the Druse in Israel are loyal to the state, and that he and other Druse leaders are trying to calm tensions. He adds that Israel is not supporting Al-Nusra or other jihadist groups, but rather is providing humanitarian assistance by allowing wounded civilians access to medical care in this country.
Finally, Josh Halickman, a freelance journalist known as the ‘Sports Rabbi,’ previews tonight’s Israeli Basketball League championship game between Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel Eilat, to be played in Jerusalem’s Payis Arena. Halickman thinks that Hapoel Jerusalem will be crowned Israel’s basketball champions, for the first time in the club’s history.
