When Tax Shekels Pay for Anti-Israel ‘Art’(11:47)
|
The Live@5 panel addresses the city of Haifa's funding of a local Arab theater's production, which glorifies and humanizes a vicious murderer.
The Al-Midan theater’s Haifa production of “A Parallel Time” was receiving funding from both the national and city governments. Recently, the national government withdrew its funding, stating that tax shekels need not pay for “art” that glorifies a murderer of its citizens. However, the city of Haifa announced it would continue its funding. Is this an appropriate use of tax revenues? Is it a matter of free speech?
