Maisa Shehadeh, Palestinian ballerina, tells VOI's Molly Livingstone about how ballet breaks cultural barriers.
Growing up in east Jerusalem, Maisa knew her community would not afford her the opportunity to dance. Yet, she committed herself to her craft, and now studies ballet at the Jerusalem Dance Arts Center, and dances with a very diverse group of other young women, including Jews and Christians of varying levels of religious observance.
