First, Sherman, director of programming and development at International Young Israel in Jerusalem, discusses the organization’s initiative, “10 buses for 10 Years: Remembering Gush Katif.” In a show of love and support, IYI is bussing Gush Katif advocates around Israel to visit the evacuees, some of whom remain in temporary dwellings in Nitzan or live in the established communities of Lachish.
Then, Sternthal, director at the Israel office of CAMERA, or Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America, explains that the information presented in the Hebrew editions of the Haaretz newspaper is not always accurately translated into English. She says that translators may insert distortions and untruths, sometimes downplaying — or omitting — instances of Palestinian violence against Jews. Disturbingly, the English Haaretz is what many foreign journalists based in Israel rely on for their information.
Finally, Rabbi Avihod, founder of HaBoydem Second Hand Store, talks about hate — that which caused the destruction of the Holy Temple, commemorated on the 9th of Av. He explains that modern-day malice and prejudice can continue to ravage our world.
