Jews, Non-Jews and Other Intra-Israeli Conflicts(50:32)
|
VOI’s Josh Hasten is joined by Dr. Mordechai (Moti) Zaken, Public Security Ministry director of minority affairs. Zaken says that Israel must work on paying more respect to non-Jews, particularly Christians living in the country or visiting as tourists. He also condemns a recent flier, posted in Jerusalem by a group claiming to be a branch of ISIS, threatening violence against Christians in Israel.
Then, Josh is joined by Knesset insider Jeremy Saltan, who says that MK Yair Lapid, head of the Yesh Atid party, was way off base for calling on Prime Minister Netanyahu to resign if the p5+1 countries sign a bad nuclear deal with Iran. Saltan asks why Lapid didn’t issue such a threat when he was a member of the government, and was silent while Netanyahu gave his historic address before the US Congress in March to warn of the dangers of a “bad deal.”
Finally, Josh is joined by Rabbi Reuven Spolter, Overseas Rabbinic Coordinator for the Tzohar organization. Spolter previews tomorrow’s “Tzohar Summer Conference 2015,” which will feature sessions relevant to the Anglo community in Israel: teen immigration challenges, Anglo-Israeli influence in the Diaspora, maintaining intimacy in our busy lives, and whether immigrants to Israel from English-speaking countries will ever really fit into Israeli society.
