Tisha B’Av commemorates the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE, and again 70 CE. Both of these historic events led to the exile of the Jewish people from the land of Israel. 2,000 years later, we are back in our land as a sovereign nation. Why, then, do we still mourn and fast on this day?
