A Time for Inspiration, a Time for Revenge(50:51)
|
They are joined in-studio by Lori Palatnik, founding director of the Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project. The project, whose mission is to empower women to change the world through Jewish values. It brings thousands of Jewish women from all over the world to Israel each year to reconnect them to their heritage. The idea behind it is that if a woman is inspired, she inspires her family. And if enough families are inspired, whole communities are affected, and eventually the entire world is, as well. An Orthodox educator, blogger and author, Lori did not grow up in a traditionally Orthodox household. She says her life changed when she came to Israel in her mid-20s on a backpacking trip.
Then, Ari and Jeremy discuss this week’s Torah portion, Matot. They say there is a time for peace and a time for war, and ask, “What is revenge? What is the difference between coveting and being jealous?” Relating the text to what is happening in the world today, they say a person is only truly able to feel love if he is open to the entire range of emotions, including the evil ones.
