Gush Katif: A Heart-Wrenching Retrospective(50:29)
|
First, Yishai lets us hear his broadcasts from the month-and-a-half that he and his wife, Malka, spent with the communities of Gush Katif in 2005, observing residents valiantly refusing to leave, even as towns were cut off from food and supplies. At the time, the Fleishers provided their on-the-scene perspective, as IDF soldiers began removing Jews from their homes.
Then, Yishai airs interviews from the immediate aftermath of the withdrawal. Among these are Liora Wexler, a strong, passionate mother-of-six, and the volunteers, young and old, who committed themselves to helping those left with nothing. Rabbi David Milston, a leader in aid services, and 14-year-old Eitan talk with love and pain about doing whatever they can to help the Gush Katif victims recover from the trauma.
