Obama, UNRWA and the Palestinians: Here We Go Again(50:39)
|
First, on the day after President Obama held a meeting with American-Jewish leaders and told them that opposition to the Iran deal will result in rockets raining down on Tel Aviv, Josh expresses his frustration and anger with the leader of Israel’s closest ally.
Then, Josh is joined by Bassem, who provides in-depth analysis on crucial stories, beginning with last week’s arson attack that led to the death of a Palestinian baby. He believes that the unequivocal and unified condemnation of the attacks by Israeli politicians prevented an escalation in violence.
Then, Bassem describes his recent trip to Washington D.C. with David Bedein of the Center for Near East Policy Research — where the two met with Congressional staffers to inform them about UNRWA activities. Bassem says his audience was receptive to hearing how UNRWA — which claims to care for Arab “refugees,” and whose biggest financial backer is the US — continues to perpetuate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with hate-education and misappropriation of funds.
Then, Bassem validates the new report indicating that an increasing number of east Jerusalem Arabs are seeking Israeli citizenship, and pinpoints the catalyst for this shift: the desire for a better quality of life.
Finally, Bassem refers to a recent column he wrote, in which he cites studies he conducted which indicate that the residents of Gaza would welcome renewed Israeli control over the Strip. His numbers show that Hamas has hijacked hundreds of thousands of tons of building material for terrorist purposes, instead of using it to improve the lives of Gaza’s civilians.
